In the U.K. they had over 40 singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one on the charts. They repeated this in many other countries. The Beatles record company estimated that by 1985 they had sold over one billion discs and tapes worldwide. In 2004 The Rolling Stone Magazine ranked them as number one on their list of 100 greatest artists of all time.
